Health and Safety

Here at Tonga Travels Ecolodge the health and safety of both our guests and our staff is the top priority. Every measure is taken to ensure that all the people at the lodge are safe and comfortable.

All vehicles are checked bi-weekly to ensure they are in good working condition - and will be replaced by default in 10 years.

All our tour guides and diving instructors are fully first-aid trained and have rehersed emergency responses to incidents commonly occuring on tropical islands. There are first aid kits in the minibus, boat, reception area and dining hall to deal with any incidents that may happen. Mini-kits comprising of plasters, insect-repellant and antiseptic wipes are also provided in every Fale. In addition to this, the closest hospital is only a few minutes drive down the main island road Hala Holopeka.

While we encourage visitors to bring any neccesary precations - we understand that some may be forgotten. Due to this products such as suncream and hats are sold at reception to avoid sunburns and heat stroke.

Life jackets are stored on the boats at all times and our boats are equipped with sea to shore radios to ensure that contact with base is maintained.  Both our boat captains are also trained emergency first responders, so with the two dive professionals that will be accompanying you, you are extremely well looked after.

Our fire assembly point is located at the front of the lodge by Hala Holopeka where the minibus pulls up.

Our dining hall is cleaned after every meal to ensure the area remains hygenic, and all our catering staff undertake the Level 2 Food Hygeine & Safety Certificate before they are permitted to prepare the meals.
